Oh what fun to ride a bike through a building you designed

Let groupwork commence...typical Syracuse move

In typical Syracuse fashion, a mid project switch got thrown our way, forcing us to team up in groups of 2 for the remainder of the semster. They really don't like students working on their own pursuing their own abilities and interests here it seems.

So, here is the first scheme from me and my partner Matt.

Round 4

Round 4 for me was an attempt to operate within the existing usable structures on the site, rather than total new construction. The idea was to fold the ground plane up and into the buildings, allowing it to dictate the scale and space inside and to generate new spaces outside.

View from the Top!

Just found out how to get on the roof of our 17 story studio building on Madison Ave. And I thought the view of the Empire State Building was amazing from our 14th floor space, much less the roof on 17!!

Great Presentation by Bjarke Ingels

Really cool method for presenting a project...especially if you speak Danish!

And the work begins...

Here is some of this weeks work, analysis of the Kunsthal Rotterdam by Rem Koolhaas and Caixa Forum Madrid by Herzog de Mueron, and some analysis of our site on Staten Island. We are designing a 30,000 square foot art gallery and performance space for COAHSI, a Staten Island art center group. This is actually a real project, and we have been meeting with the developer in charge, as well as the director of COAHSI. There is also a good chance of our work getting highly publicized, as this in contention for the Rockefeller Grant. Should be interesting to say the least!
